Alonzo Proposes Town Absorbs Water District
by Joseph Rager

The Selectmen had a long meeting on March 22, 2016 lasting for over three hours. The meeting was held at the Town Hall and topics covered include the possible absorption of the Lunenburg Water District by the Town of Lunenburg, the appointment of three Reserve Officers for the Lunenburg Police Department, and the continuation of payment planning for the Pavement Management Plan.
Selectmen Tom Alonzo proposed an article for the upcoming Town Meeting which would have the Town absorb the Lunenburg Water District into its hierarchy. Selectman Alonzo hopes this would eliminate any possible communication problems, increase involvement of the Water District in the Town, and remove any confusion regarding the currently separate entity.
“In no way because I think they’re not doing a good job—purely procedural.” Alonzo said about the proposed consolidation. The Water District serves about 75% of the Town.
