Selectmen Concerned About Water District Expansion
by Amanda Koeck
Tempers flared at the Board of Selectmen meeting April 14, after board member Phyllis Luck brought up an action file issue concerning a conversation she had with Lancaster Town Administrator Ryan McNutt about the Lunenburg Water District expanding their services out of town.
Chairman of the board of the Lunenburg Water District, Dave Rodgers was in attendance for the public comment portion of the meeting to promote the Lion’s Club Meat Bingo fundraiser to take up time between a scheduled agenda item and public comment, the board went on to housekeeping tasks like approving meeting minutes and warrants and bringing up action file issues when Luck said that through her conversation with McNutt she learned that the town of Lancaster expects to bring in 350,000 to 450,000 gallons of water on a daily basis from the Lunenburg Water District.
Luck cited a 2005 report that states the town of Lunenburg as a whole uses 460,000 gallons of water daily.
