Town Web site receives E-Government Award

Town Manager Kerry Speidel was in tears during Tuesday night’s Selectmen’s meeting.
They were not tears of joy or of sadness, but tears brought on by a bout of heavy laughter.
“I’m really embarrassed to make this next announcement,” she began. “I wanted to let you know that I received an e-mail last Tuesday from Common Cause Massachusetts and we are being awarded with a 2010 E-Government Award for our Web Site.”
The board, at this point, joined in with her laughter. Speidel said she believed the town of Lunenburg’s Web site had been selected to received this award based on informational criteria - the availability of meeting minutes, meeting agendas, by-laws, etc.
She did say however, that though Lunenburgonline.com was being presented with this award, it had not, however, “achieved the Enhanced Category.”
