The Lunenburg Board of Selectmen met on Tuesday, August 24 to discuss earth removal permit renewals, cuts in town council rates and other issues.
Paula Bertram discussed a Water Advisory Drought Restriction. Non-essential water use from 5 to 9 p.m. will be cut. This would apply to even-numbered houses on even days and odd-numbered houses on odd days. More information can be obtained from the Water District Office at (978) 342-9211.
Jack Rodriquenz of the Department of Public Works discussed repairs for New West Townsend Road after flooding in March. Rodriquenz said the road “was inundated” after the flooding, and said that repairs could be completed using Chapter 90 funds. The road needs crack sealing, which Rodriquenz says will cost roughly $30 to $40,000.
“I’m really eager to see the plan go forward,” said Selectman Tom Alonzo. Elmwood Road, Pioneer Drive, Electric Avenue, and other areas would also need repairs, according to Rodriquenz.
