Questions have been raised regarding dog ownership in the town of Lunenburg following a public hearing on January 12 regarding assault claims John MacLure and Kathy Remse of May’s Field Road against their neighbor’s Phyllis and Allen Assetta’s two American Staffordshire Terriers.

Selectmen decided to take no action regarding the Assetta’s dogs, provided that they adhere to Animal Control Officer Kathy Comeau’s demand that the dogs be restrained any time they are on or off their property.

Owners that do not obey Comeau’s order or if the person who issued the complaint is not satisfied with the outcome may be subject to a Selectmen hearing where additional steps may be taken to ensure the public’s safety.
