Paul L. Marien D.D.S., of West Townsend Rd, died Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
Dr. Marien was born June 10, 1941, in Fitchburg, the son of the late Wilfrid J. and Marie (L’Ecuyer) Marien and brother to the late Louis A. Marien. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Fitchburg, and Assumption College, Worcester, MA. After graduating from Georgetown Dental School, Washington, D.C. he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corp.
Dr. Marien was a member and past President of the Central Massachusetts Dental Study Group and practiced dentistry locally for nearly 40 years. He took great pride and satisfaction in his work and loved his practice and patients. He found pleasure as well in woodworking and golf, but family was always his priority.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathleen (Hourigan) Marien; two daughters, Lisa (Marien) Harrison and her husband Nicholas, and Michelle (Marien) McCauliff and her husband Peter, and four grandchildren, Mikayla McCauliff, Christopher McCauliff, Abigail Harrison, and Kathryn Harrison, of Lunenburg. All of whom will miss him dearly.
The funeral was held on Monday, Feb. 1, at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. in Fitchburg, with a Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St. in Leominster. Calling hours were at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. A private burial is planned.
