Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Louis A. Sacco died Sunday Morning, March 4, surrounded by family. He was born March 7, 1930 in Whitehall, NY, the son of Armalinda and James Sacco. He graduated from Hartford High School in White River Jct, VT in 1947 where he was active in student government, captain of the football and basketball teams, and a star athlete. He played Semi Pro basketball for the Hartford Indians. Many knew him as the drum major for two American Legion Drum Corps consisting of all World War II veterans.

    He was employed as a salesman for Swift & Company for 11 years and for Playtex International for 20 years winning many awards as top salesman. Louis settled into Lunenburg in 1963 with his family. He became a leader in local athletics during the late 60’s to early 80’s as President of Lunenburg Little League, Lunenburg Football Booster Club, Hockey Boosters, and Vice President of Fitchburg Youth Hockey. He coached youth basketball for 9 years. His hobbies included woodcarving, drawing, painting, piano playing, and gourmet cooking.

    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Sacco, of Lunenburg, two daughters and two sons. Donna Sacco and husband Peter Tomlinson of Arlington, VA, James Sacco and wife Lori of Weston, Mary Ann Waterstradt and husband Scott of Greensboro, NC, and Louis Sacco Jr. and wife Nancy of Southboro. Eight grandchildren: Madeleine and Sophie Frank, James, Michael, Thomas, Carolyn, Laura, and Julianne Sacco. One sister Marietta Guthrie and husband Kenneth of N. Hampton, NH, three brothers Harry Sacco of N. Hampton NH, Jerry Sacco of Queensbury, NY, James Sacco and his wife Doreen of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers:Andrew, Anthony, and sister Philomena.

    His funeral will be held on Thursday, March 8, from the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Church, 817 Massachusetts Ave. Burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Jct., VT.

    Calling hours in the funeral home were held on Wednesday, March 7.
