Kelly Ulf jumps over the moon with a record breaking 5 feet 2 inch vault

At the League Championship for high jumpers at Fitchburg High School last Wednesday, Kelly Ulf, a senior at Lunenburg High School, broke her own record of five feet one inch.

 

“It was my first attempt and when I landed, I looked behind me and saw that I cleared it perfectly,” said Ulf.

 

When she realized she beat her own record, “I started screaming and crying, jumping up and down… It was a funny sight,” said Ulf.

 

“There was no calming me down. It was like I had a ‘jumper’s high.’”

 

Even though Ulf is reluctant to call herself a role model, she can’t believe how the roles have reversed since she was a freshman over three years ago.
