Joyce N. Mathews, 77

       Joyce N. (Lynch) Mathews, 77, of Rotonda West, FL, former longtime resident of Lunenburg died Jan. 6, in Englewood, FL from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Dec. 19.


        She was born in Leominster, on Nov. 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Russell and Lois (Hawkes) Lynch.  She graduated from Leominster High School where she was a standout athlete earning varsity letters in each of her four years there.


        Joyce was a library assistant at Lunenburg High School for several years prior to her retirement.  Her true passion was for art, as she was an award winning artist in oil painting.  She was very active in the Englewood Art Association and has had many of her pieces on display there.  Joyce remained very athletic throughout her adult life and was an avid golfer.


    Her husband, Donald M. Mathews died in 1989.  She leaves a son, Greg Mathews and his wife Sue of Lunenburg; two daughters, Kim Rhyne and her husband John of Rotonda, FL and Christie Decot and her husband Chris of Lunenburg; two brothers, Gerry Lynch and John Lynch, three sisters, Jan Lynch, Carol Lynch and Jackie Lynch; nine grandchildren, Mathew Ferrucci, Nicholas Ferrucci, Patrick Ferrucci, Gary Ferrucci, Kellan Decot, Mary Decot, Tyler Mathews, Kayli Mathews and Cooper Mathews; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ferrucci and McKinley Ferrucci and several nephews and nieces.  She is predeceased by a brother Jeff Lynch.


            Her funeral will be celebrated in Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave. Burial will be in the North Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to the funeral on Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 10 to 11 a.m.


    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lunenburg Football Booster Club, P.O. Box 5, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
