Girls’ Field Hockey and Soccer Teams finish with tough fought seasons

Their seasons may not have ended the way they wanted them, but both the Lunenburg High School Girls’ Field Hockey team and the Girls’ Soccer Team certainly aren’t hanging heads.


    The field hockey team fell short of reaching the postseason while the girls’ soccer team qualified but fell in the first round on the road against Tyngsboro High School. However, Varsity Field Hockey Head Coach Emily Marsden and Varsity Girls’ Soccer Head Coach Tim Normandin couldn’t be prouder of their respective squads.


    “It was a tough and frustrating year and the ones who had the hardest time with it, I believe, were the captains. The seniors who wanted to have a good show in their final season,” said Marsden, who just finished her eighth year as a member of the Blue Knights program, including the last five as varsity head coach.  

   “However, it was one of my favorite years coaching. My  focus changed from  trying to win games, which is still there, to trying to create great lasting memories and life lessons.”


    While Normandin’s troops made it a little further than Marsden’s the longtime girls’ soccer coach echoed her words.
