After three years of serving as a Selectman on the highest-ranking board in town, Tom Mason will be stepping down.
Although he enjoyed his three-year tenure, both his children are overseas and he wants to free up his schedule so he can spend more time with them as well as engage in other endeavors.
He advises his replacement to "talk to people. Talk to members of the departments, the department heads and the taxpayers. Be willing to listen and talk to other members of the board. Nobody has all the answers. I actually had more questions than answers. Be willing to work together."
Mason has served on the Board and will be renegotiating her contract later this year.
"She really knows how to manage a town. She has very strong accounting and budgeting skills. We went from a {possible} $2.7M override to a balanced budget," he said.
