Dorothy C. (Mount) Cassidy, 70, of Lunenburg, died on Thursday, Jan. 12, in UMass Memorial Healthcare’s Belmont St. Campus.
She was born in New York, on April 6, 1941, a daughter of the late George W. and Mary (Ahern) Mount. She earned her bachelor degree from UMass Amherst and her master’s degree from Fitchburg State University. She has lived in Lunenburg since 1973.
Dot owned and operated the Hickory Hollow Morgan Horse Farm in Lunenburg for many years. When her children were young she was very active in 4H and the Morgan Youth Group. She was also an orchid enthusiast and member of the American Orchid Society.
Dot loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all of their friends who she would consider her extended family as well as her Wednesday lunch group.
She leaves her two daughters, Mary Cassidy of Lunenburg and Katy Cassidy of Billerica and her three grandchildren, Caroline Anderson, Connor Gale and Declan Gale.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1:30 p.m. in the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield at a later date.
