Developer submits initial plans for a gas station on Leominster/Shirley Road

Seeking to utilize a vacant property at 134 Leominster/Shirley Rd., developer New England Farms presented an intensive building plan to the Planning Board Monday night.
The property, previously classified as industrial, was requested by the developers last year to be rezoned as commercial, for which it was approved. Special permit requests for a drive-through window and gas distribution have been applied for.
“We’re proposing a gas station with a convenience store,” said civil engineer Christopher Tymula. “It would provide a canopy [a roof over the pumps], and four dispensers with a total of eight fueling locations.”
Noting that the location is a “challenging site” in terms of storm water management, Tymula still reassured the board that all measures have been taken to ensure proper disposal.
“[There will be an] Underground pipe system which discharges from a catch basin at the base of the property,” Tymula said. “From there, it will be discharged into wetlands.”
The wetlands in question are a nearby brook, regarding which New England Farms will be meeting in March with the Conservation Commission to plan for minimal environmental impact.
