Concerns raised over spot-zoning on Mass. Ave.

Since 1964 Thomas and Beverly Mulholland have lived at 2 Leominster Road enjoying the relative peace and quiet the neighborhood has offered.
Now, the Mulholland’s fear, if Article 25 passes at Town Meeting on May 1, all that could change.
“This has been our home for 46 years for which we pay our taxes and enjoy the pleasant setting and the peace and quiet in the evenings,” Thomas Mulholland told the Planning Board Monday during a public hearing regarding zoning articles slated to be presented during Town Meeting.
Article 25, a citizen petition, is a request to change the zoning status of 950 Massachusetts Ave., from “Residential A” to “Retail Commercial” for the purpose of a coffee shop. The petition was brought forward by the owner of the property Khan Mohiuddin.
“I bought this [property] three years ago from the Town … it was not in good shape,” Mohiuddin explained. “It’s a nice lot, central to the town.”
