Richard and Kim Newcombe, are the owners of Harmony Hill Alpaca Farm, located in the small picturesque town of Ashby, located right off of Route 31 outside of Fitchburg.
It is a must-see place when you are out and about this holiday season.
They started the Alpaca farm in 2004.
Recently they have welcomed several new babies to their fold.
The public is invited to come and see these beautiful animals and pat and feed them. All of the alpacas are registered and of show quality, which Kim does throughout the year all over the United States.
Alpaca wool fiber is so soft and is of the highest quality for all of your creative needs. Alpaca clothing feels like cashmere and warmer than wool.
Richard and Kim offer classes on how to make mittens and more out of this deliciously soft material.
They have a great gift store on the farm that is open from September to May on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during their holiday season (October through December) the store is open Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
The store is filled with a great selection of holiday gifts to include alpaca socks, mittens, sweaters, hats, caps, and coats and stuffed animals for the kids.
Alpaca yard and carded fleece is a big seller for the craft maker. You will be able to find a gift for just about everyone on your list even that difficult one!!
Visit them on their Web site pacanation.com/harmonyhillfarm.asp or call ahead at (978) 386-2363 to find out more information about Harmony Hill.
It is a remarkable place to visit and learn all about these wonderful animals and the products that are made from their fiber.
‘Till next time,
Rob
