Variety is the spice of life at Bailey’s Bar and Grille, located at 18 Main St. in Townsend.
Whether you’re looking for a variety in musical ambiance - while dining at Bailey’s you’ll hear everything from Country and Western to pop culture musical number like “You’re the one that I want” from the hit musical Grease - or a variety of delicious menu items - Bailey’s has everything from All-American burgers to Mexican dishes, you can get it all in one of Townsend’s newest eateries.
This week a group of friends and I visited Bailey’s for dinner. Some of us are self-proclaimed picky eaters and found ourselves excited to see that there was something on the menu for everyone.
When you eat here you’d be remiss if you didn’t try Bailey’s Lobster Chowder or Onion soup. Both were deliciously flavorful. The Lobster Chowder was overflowing with fresh chunks of real lobster and the Onion soup, simmering beneath a thick layer of Swiss cheese, was out-of-this-world, and I think we all know how I feel about a good bowl of Onion soup!
If you’re eating with friends, the Nacho Basket is a perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer. The Bailey’s Nacho Basket is served with fresh corn tortilla chips, melted cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions and black olives in a deliciously edible tortilla bowl. Even the salsa, sour cream and guacamole sides are served in tortilla bowls of their own. The entire appetizer (which fed five of us with ease) was only $7.99 with an option to add chili, Southwest seasoned chicken or beef for just $2 more.
And don’t worry about wasting any if you find you can’t finish it. Our waitress informed us that all the leftovers are composted and used to feed local pigs - now that’s what I call living in hog heaven!
Bailey’s beer and wine menu is also chock full of choices if you’re thinking of starting things off with a frosty tall one or a glass of your favorite red or white.
It’s also not a bad idea to check out their specialty drink menu. The Pink Bikini Sangria is a deliciously fruity example, made with White Zinfandel, Bacardi Limon, Raspberry Stoli, Watermelon and Peach Schnapps. You might even find yourself enjoying it while listening to that fabulous little ditty, the “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka dot Bikini” - she might have worn it for the first time that day, but she got it stuck in her head for the rest of the week!
Bailey’s offers a wide selection of entrees, from New York Deli Style Sandwiches to comfort food specialties like the Life is Good Meatloaf. And don’t worry about prices, Bailey’s has a large selection of Perfect 10s for under $10, which include their burgers, which come with their signature fries (a seasoned mixture or regular and sweet potato fries) as well as other dishes like Elaine’s Pulled Pork, slow roasting then pulled and simmered in BBQ sauce garnished with a deep fried apple and the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo with tender chunks of chicken and broccoli sautéed in a creamy garlic alfredo sauce and served over your choice of linguine or rigatoni.
On top of all that, Bailey’s has a great lunch special menu and a late night menu at the bar, live acoustic entertainment every Wednesday night and Ladies Nights every Thursday.
So check out Bailey’s today, and find out why it’s becoming one of the area’s best spots for food, fun and entertainment.
