Aggregation Plan moves forward; available for public review

The Lunenburg Board of Selectmen held a public hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 11 to discuss the town’s municipal aggregation plans.
Last summer, the town discussed the concept of municipal aggregation, and in November, Lunenburg took its first step towards aggregation after voting to approve of aggregation plans during the Special Town Meeting.
Brian Murphy of Colonial Power Group presented an overview of Lunenburg’s municipal aggregation plan at the opening of the hearing. According to Murphy, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, the Department of Revenue, and “a small army of private attorneys” have reviewed the plan, and he assured the Board that it was “a mature document.”
The plan outline includes the organizational structure, explaining how customers would use the system. The town wouldn’t require any additional staff, according to Murphy. After the town obtains legal approval for the plan, Murphy said, “the hard work really begins.”
