Adeline (Szocik) Ketonen, 88, a longtime Lunenburg resident, died peacefully in the home that she built and lived with her husband for 61 years, from natural causes.
Her husband of 61 years, Verner Ketonen, died in 1981.
She leaves two daughters, Janice E. Ketonen of Westford and Susan A. Duncanson and her husband, Scott L., of Lunenburg; one brother, Victor Szocik of Lunenburg; four sisters, Vi Naylor of Weymouth, MA, Lillian Griffiths and Evelyn Loufus, both of Lunenburg; two grandchildren, Erica L. and Robert L. Duncanson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred, Edmund and Walter Szocik and three sisters, Mary Riikonen, Albertina Szocik and Helen Dollack.
Mrs. Ketonen attended Lunenburg High School. She enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, bird watching and had been an avid bowler. Most of all she loved her family more than anything.
She was born in Fitchburg, on April 10, 1922, a daughter of the late Domienik and Helen (Jakimczik) Szocik.
Graveside Services were held on Wednesday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. in North Cemetery, Lunenburg. Rev. Mary Ann Barry will officiate.
There were no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Lunenburg Police Relief Association, 7 School St., Lunenburg, MA 01462.
The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 763 Mass Ave., Lunenburg directed the funeral arrangements.
